The Divine of the Realms

What are the divine

The Divine are a variety of immortal beings that hold innate power. Divines that originate or hold power over the same realm are apart of a collective 'pantheon', there has not been a realm without it's own pantheon ever found in history. The most powerful of these Divine are commonly referred to as gods or deities, but they are far from the only kind. Deities have control over a diverse collection of concepts in the universe, which individually are referred to as 'domains', and collectively known as a 'portfolio'. Each god has a different portfolio, and generally does not overlap with others from the same pantheon.

Once a god has control over a domain, it cannot exist on it's own, and requires active management from it's holder. However if a god were to become unavailable, it has been observed that other deities will pick up the work required as for the domain to not fall into disorder.

Divine Hierarchy

The Architect

Architects are at the heart of every realm. It is unknown how or why, however at the start of every universe there is always an entity that started it all. After the initial creation, the start the first generation of deities are made by the Architect.

After creation, the Architect falls into what could be described as a prolonged rest period. It is unknown how long this period lasts. During this rest period, one or more gods must take care of the universe at large. As long as the Architect is alive it will not be destroyed, however it may fall into disrepair. After waking up, the universe continues expanding beyond it's initial size.

Addition: Era 3, year 6
Side Note: in some cases Architects awaking could have disastrous effects on the local realm. Further research to mitigate an extinction level event from occurring is necessary and of the highest priority.

Ancient Deities

These are the first deities of any given pantheon, made by the Architect very early after a realm is created, before general existence. It is unknown how, but theorized it is by similair means of how deities usually create other deities.

Ancient Deities generally have vast, sweeping powers or otherwise created the first building blocks of their world. These gods have by far some of the largest influence in their realms and pantheon.

Descendant Deities

Descendant Deities are every god created after the initial Ancients. They are exclusively created by other gods, Ancient or other Descendants. This process is asexual in nature, using one's divine energy to create an independant creature.

Descendant Gods tend to have smaller scale portfolios than Ancient Deities, though it is not rare for some Descendants to be on par or more powerful than some Ancients.

Timekeeper

These deities are always present and strictly necessary in active realms. Timekeepers keep the timeline in order, and weed out any corrupting influences.

Interestingly enough, they seem to have some idea of time outside their realm. It's unknown if they can sense how many realms there are, or where they are in relation to the realm they are in.

Demigods

Few of this type of divine have ever been reported. Demigods are created by a god asexually impregnating a mortal by transferring some of their divine power. The mortal must carry the child as deities do not posses any reproductive organs.

Once the demigod is born it goes through the usual growth cicle of their mortal parent's species, but much slower as it's body must adjust to the vast amounts of energy it contains.

Thrones

Thrones are an interesting find. On all accounts, they are on par with the average deity, despite not being created with any divine energy or influence. Instead, they are mortals who obtained power through efforts of their own, usually building their own following and gaining prayer. Prayer is well documented to enhance a divine's power, however if strong enough can make someone immortal and even gain their own domains.

Thrones are highly controversial though, as many pantheons see praying to a mortal as blasphemous. Currently there has only been two active Thrones found, one located in Kemulios and the other constantly travelling .

Seraphim

Seraphim are ascended Principalities, becomming fully immortal and gaining the power to serve their deity for as long as they need.

Principalities

Mortals can be blessed by deities with divine power, becomming Principalities. Often deities provide this power to their most loyal followers as a gift or to mortals who can fulfill a specific job.

Principalities are immortal as any Divine, however go through a rebirth once their old mortal body dies, ascending and becomming the more powerful Seraphim.

Virtues

Virtues are comparatively weak divine creatures, taking care of small indivual parts of a planet. They often manifest as protectors of nature, but can also watch over communities of people or specific landmarks.
